The Quantum Pleasure Traveller

Original Soundtrack by AtomTM

Visual

The quantum pleasure traveller’s mind was in a state of exquisite agony. She could see through the walls and ceiling, but not above them. Her body lay spreadeagled on a slab of stone that seemed to be floating in midair; and yet she knew that she was safe in the hands of the Rasu technician who had carried her here. The tech was waiting patiently for her to recover from the shock of being transferred so swiftly between worlds, as though he were watching over a sleeping child at night. But this was no child – it was an adult female of the species known to the planet-dwellers as ‘Rasun’.
The Rasu was a slim, elegant creature with long arms and legs; its head was domed like that of a human or a very short-necked trilobite. It had the ability to hold conversations while remaining completely motionless. As a consequence, it was quite often used by the colonists as a model for representing the human race. In all other respects, however, it was alien to humankind. Its skin was smooth and pale, without scales. A few wiry hairs grew along its spine, where they formed a fine meshwork against which the rest of the hide was hard and leathery. The Rasun’s eyes were huge, round and black, and set deep within small faces.
“The Quantum Pleasure Traveller” is a love story, but it’s not about sex. It’s about what sex does to people, and how that can make them change so fundamentally they become something else entirely. It’s also about how the mere fact of being in love with someone changes you forever – even if that person dies before you do.
